Realtime International Film Festival (RTF) has gone live and is playing host online to 100 films, 26 countries and over 10,000 participants.
The RTF online film festival which was inspired by recent global events due to the burden emanating from the COVID-19 lockdown, went live online on World Health Day, April 7, 2020, and will run till April 14.
In a press release issued by the convener, Stanlee Oikhuare, the festival is part of the Remote Access Edition showcase of the RTF and is themed ‘HUMANITY C.A.N’ and it is “for filmmakers and by filmmakers to the world.”
“While most of the other festivals worldwide have either postponed or scrapped their events for the year 2020, we at RTF decided to move our own event forward by two months, to help people around the world cope with the burden of COVID-19 lockdown. This is because as an innovative and technology-driven festival which has constantly upheld the mantra of remote accessibility, we believe that the very essence of our vision should take centre stage at a time such as this,” the statement read.
“To this effect, we reached out to filmmakers interested in showcasing their works in our newly designed “ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL”
According to Stanlee, the vision of the event from inception was; “to build a truly International, all-inclusive and remotely accessible Film Festival.”
Our corporate vision is “to become the most acclaimed technology-driven, remotely accessible Festival in Africa with a keen interest in Cultural & Creative Arts.”
